It’s easy to see how the Spanish came to use their word “sierra”—meaning a saw—to describe a mountain range of sharp peaks, as in Sierra Nevada or Sierra Madre. All of the kiln-fired glass pieces—snowy peaks, foothills, trees, moon—of the Sierra glasscape are fully re-arrangeable to create a variety of scenes. The work is illuminated either at day or night by a light, recessed into the rear of the hardwood base, which is reflected off the wall behind.
