This basin originates from the Japanese ofuro concept, traditionally used for a long soak that warms the body and relaxes tired muscles and nerves. The teak wood is warm to the touch and an excellent insulator, thus helping to keep the water hot.
Geo basins are designed to be cantilevered off a wall but they can just as well sit on a countertop as part of a conventional washstand arrangement. The basin includes an integral cantilever bracket which you can use to attach the basin to the wall. The inside corners are rounded to a radius of 3/4" for easy cleaning. Inner bowl dimensions are approximately 17" Wide x 10" Deep x 4 1/2" High.
The basins comes with a standard 1 1/4" PresFlo (self actuated and self contained) drain, compatible with standard basin p-traps. The drain hole is positioned towards the center back of the basin. Overflows are not standard but you can order the basin with an overflow (see photos 7 and 8). Crated weight - 33 lbs. See Specification Sheet for additional details.
Our teak sinks and baths are treated with Timbertect Plus. This is an epoxy resin sealant which sinks into the wood and fuses with it, forming an exceptionally tough layer that will not absorb stains. These sinks are easy to clean with standard non-abrasive bathroom and kitchen cleaners. Products containing bleach should be avoided as they may lighten the wood unevenly. Further information on care and maintenance is provided with the product.
