More about Deborah Buress
Deborah Buress has been working with fused glass for 5 years although glass fusing dates back to the ancient Egyptians and the methods haven’t changed much in 5000 years. Every glass piece is made by layering at least two pieces of glass and then put in a kiln and heated at temperatures of about 1500 degrees Fahrenheit at which point the pieces fuse together and become one piece. The glass is then cooled to room temperature. Then the glass is put into a mold and refired in the kiln to form the desired shape. You will notice little bubbles in the glass. These occur as the glass literally begins to boil when it is fused. They look like fish bubbles in the ocean. Due to this process, none of the pieces are ever the same.
Deborah works in glass while she is in Martha’s Vineyard and Delray Beach. She uses a beautiful palette of colors reminiscent of the oceans she lives near.
All of her pieces are signed and dated. The tableware can be put in the dishwasher or microwave and are very user friendly.
