How to Order
This is a representational item that can be commissioned. Stainless steel, glass and reflective panels. The artist created a deliberate illusion as to what is transparent and what is reflective. 201 separate parts were cut, perfectly fit, TIG welded, ground, and then initially assembled to be blasted to achieve the desired “soft” visual texture which would compliment and contrast with the transparency of the glass and the reflective illusion of transparency of the polished stainless steel. Once this process was completed the stainless steel inserts and the glass were cut, taped with linear patterns which direct your vision to the center and then to the “knob” and then blasted. The arrangement of the 18 panels (11 stainless and 7 glass) was arrived at to enhance the illusionary incongruity of reflection and transparency. Each of the panels is held in by removable _”x _”solid bar stock inserts, and custom cut neoprene gaskets to prevent any vibration. The real factor in the project was the extended amount of time needed to fabricate, finish the details and then install the one of a kind project to perfection.
