Scripps College, Claremont, CA. Since 1978, she has worked with
glass from kiln to flame to furnace, given workshops at
Colleges, Universities, Art Centers, and has been involved with

Julie Conway --
As a
glass artist, Julie works in two forms of hot glass. One is the
ancient art of blowing hot glass as practiced in Venice, Italy
and elsewhere. The other is lampworking, a style of sculpting or
blowing glass with the use of a torch and small tools. The two
methods offer the artist a versatility and variety in the
creation of glass art.

Glass Artists Gallery Adds Three New
Mosaic Artists
SEATTLE, WA
-- Under the category of mosaic
art, Glass Artists Gallery is becoming a strong presence in
mosaic specialty projects, thanks to the addition of three new
artisans: Sally Voss, Cathleen Newsham and Rhonda Heisler. These
three gifted mosaic artists bring exciting new mosaic tiles,
furniture, sinks, and mirrors to online gallery.
Sally Voss, influenced by
Italian mosaic, innovates unique ways to bring mosaic art into
tiles and furniture. Cathleen Newsham, formerly a design firm
owner in Manhattan, began creating lush mosaic sinks out of her
frustration in finding that perfect sink for her powder room.
Rhonda Heisler’s one-of-a-kind mirrors and furniture even
incorporate antique dishes and vintage porcelain to dovetail
with antique furniture.
Samples of these artisans’ work are
highlighted in the newly released October edition of Glass
Insights, the company’s online subscription-based newsletter, as
well as on the company’s website:
www.glassartsgallery.com.
NEWS RELEASE #1: February 19, 2003
New Catalog and Online Gallery Brings
Custom
Functional and Architectural Art Glass to Design Professionals
Worldwide
SEATTLE, WA -- Nothing adds elegance and beauty to a
home or office quite like art glass. Until now, however,
locating a single, reliable source for museum-quality functional
and architectural glass art has been difficult for designers and
architectural professionals.
A Seattle-based venture is changing all that. The Glass
Artists Gallery (www.GlassArtistsGallery.com) offers design
professionals, art consultants and corporate clients convenient
access to some of the finest custom glass artists in America.
The company represents over 50 of the country's top creators of
functional and architectural art glass.
What makes the gallery unique is that it deals only with
studio glass, focusing on functional art. It is trade-oriented
and it does not handle mass-produced glass. Customers can choose
from stocked items or they can commission work through the
gallery.
Created by accomplished glass artist Suzanne Guttman and
marketing professional Jack Healy, The Glass Artists Gallery
works with design professionals, art consultants and corporate
clients, providing a convenient single source of hand-crafted
architectural and functional glass art. The company bridges the
gap between fine art and the needs of designers and architects.
Each artist represented by the gallery has been juried for
admission. Beauty and originality of work is considered, along
with the artist's experience in dealing with the architectural
and design communities. This ensures that the gallery can find
the right piece and the right artist for a particular job.
The company currently offers a full-color catalog
highlighting hundreds of pieces of glass art from over 50
artists. The publication is divided into eight categories -
lighting, sinks, tiles, wall art, architectural glass,
furniture, sculpture, vessels -- making it easy for design or
architectural professionals to find the piece they need.
The catalog can be purchased for
$39.95 + $7.00 for shipping and
handling, and it is updated regularly to reflect the
gallery's newest work, as well as to introduce new artists as
they are accepted. The price of the catalog is refunded when a
customer places his or her first order.
A website (www.glassartistsgallery.com) has also been set up
to enable clients to view glass work online.
"We provide access to some of the finest custom glass artists
in America," says Suzanne Guttman. "The artists we represent
craft sinks and lighting, wall art and furniture, sculpture,
tiles, room dividers, murals and vessels. Whatever the
architectural or design specifications, they have the skills and
vision to fulfill the client's requests. They offer standard
designs or the most complex of original pieces."
